What is hi la ga na?

Hilagana is a Japanese syllabary, one component of the Japanese writing system, along with katakana and kanji. They are simply Japanese alphabets. Hilagana is a kana system, in which each symbol represents one sound. Each kana is either a vowel such as [a あ i い u う e え o お];
a consonant followed by a vowel such as [ka か ki き ku く ke け ko こ]; or n ん.

In addition, most syllables can be slightly changed by adding two small strokes or a small circle in the top right corner next to the character.
For example, [ha は] changes to [ba ば] with the addition of two small strokes, or to [pa ぱ] with the addition of a small circle. Nine small hilagana characters also combine with regular hilaganas, and these combinations can create more sounds such as [ki き+ small ya ゃ = kya きゃ] etc.

Using hilagana charms, you can spell your name, initial or message...whatever you like!
